Championship club Widnes have secured the services of experienced Warrington prop Kyle Amor for next season.

The 35-year-old forward has recently joined Warrington on loan until the end of the season from Super League champions St Helens.

Amor is out of contract at the end of the season. It is believed that he wants to drop down to playing part-time rugby league.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Warrington coach Daryl Powell confirmed that he has already agreed terms with another club for next season.

And Love Rugby League understands that Amor has agreed a deal in principal to join Widnes in the Championship for 2023.

Kyle Amor set for Warrington debut

The Cumbrian, who played for Ireland at the World Cup, is expected to make his Warrington debut when they take on Leeds at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Friday night, live on Sky Sports.

Powell said: “He has a good chance of playing this week.

“We are pleased to have him. From what I’ve seen, he’s going to add a lot to us over the second half of the season.

“Some of the things he has said from a leadership perspective have been great. He’s been a senior player there (at St Helens). He has brought some smart titbits and things he has been talking about in practice.

“He is a good guy and a real solid player, so he has fitted in pretty easily. I’d expect him to be important for us when he gets out on the field.”

Widnes are still seeking a head coach following the departure of Simon Finnigan in April.

The Vikings are currently ninth in the Championship table, having won five from 12 games so far in 2022.
