Kyle Amor puts hand up to play for Ireland at World Cup

Kyle Amor has put his hand up to play in his second World Cup for Ireland.

The 32-year-old made his international debut for Ireland in 2011 and has since won five caps for the Wolfhounds.

Amor was born and raised in Cumbria but is of Irish heritage, which makes him eligible to represent his ancestral homeland.

The St Helens prop was part of the impressive Ireland squad that won two out of their three group games at the 2017 World Cup – and he would like to play in his second World Cup later this year.

Amor told BBC’s 5 Live Rugby League podcast: “I’m just focusing on playing week in, week out at Saints and if the guys who are selecting the squad for Ireland see that I’m a part of that then obviously I’ll just wait for that call then.

“I’d certainly put my hand up again and look forward to playing in another World Cup.

“They are fantastic tournaments. The last one in Australia was one of the best things I did as a player. I really enjoyed it and meeting all the boys from different clubs. We built a great spirit at Ireland.”
