Canberra have signed hooker Kurt Baptiste on a deal until the end of the 2020 season.

The 29-year-old has made 80 first-grade appearances for Brisbane, Canberra, Leigh, Sydney Roosters and North Queensland. He has earned seven caps for Papua New Guinea.

Baptiste was due to play for the Easts Tigers in the Intrust Super Cup this year but he was available due to the cancellation of the 2020 competition due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Raiders’ recruitment and high performance director, Peter Mulholland, said: “Kurt is a talented hooker who has a proven record with the club and can provide our squad with experience and depth in a key position.

“We’re really happy to have him back at the club for the remainder of the year and we’re looking forward to him joining the squad as soon as he can.”
