Koukash to let Salford fans in for free

Salford owner Dr Marwan Koukash as promised that all fans will be admitted for free to the Red Devils’ game with Catalans Dragons next month.

Koukash has made the somewhat audacious offer in a bid to increase his team’s support, which has been paltry on occasion this season.

“I have spoken to the stadium company and have decided that on this occasion, it will be free of charge to watch this particular Salford fixture,” Koukash wrote in his Manchester Evening News column.

“We can only be a big club if we have strong support. I was recently asked am I building a team or building a club. The answer to that one is building a strong club.

“The Catalan game will be free of charge so I again urge as many people as possible to come on down and show their support.

“Our last home game against Warrington saw the fans turn out and the gate increased. The atmosphere was great. We want these people to come again.

“What we are doing is possibly a first. Our offer stands and the invitation is there. I hope many people make the most of it and really get behind us.”
