Salford owner Dr Marwan Koukash has revealed that he has stripped down his role at the club now, with Tim Sheens now in charge of recruitment.

Sheens recently arrived at the club as director of rugby, and Koukash believes that the former Kangaroos coach has had a very positive impact on his troubled club.

“My role with the Salford Red Devils is now to simply assist Tim Sheens on the rugby side and to also assist our CEO Martin Vickers with administrative matters,” Koukash wrote in his regular column for the Manchester Evening News.

“As the owner, it is my job to simply provide and sign the cheques. I am happy doing this.

“Recruitment for instance is in the very capable hands of both Tim Sheens as the director of rugby and with the coaching staff.

“I can assure our supporters that quality players who will be leaving the club will definitely be replaced by players of similar quality.

“Tim will announce who is coming in when he feels the time is right. I trust and respect him.

“He is handling all recruitment matters.”
