Koukash confirms his community ambition for Salford

Salford owner Dr Marwan Koukash has revealed that one day he hopes to pass the club on to the local community to own.

He will not be giving up control of the club any time soon, however.

“My family are very keen on living in Australia but that does not mean I will have to water down my interest in Salford,” he told BBC Radio Manchester.

“I’m not going to own Salford forever, and as soon as the club can stand on its own feet, I would like to hand the ownership to the community.”

Koukash is still very keen on furthering his NRL ownership ambitions, however, with Gold Coast Titans as the club in his sights.

“I’m interested in the NRL and the Gold Coast Titans are owned by the league,” he added.

“When the NRL decides to offload it, I want to be in with a chance of owning that club.”
