Koukash after Newcastle

Marwan Koukash has renewed his interested in buying a stake in the Newcastle Knights according to reports in Australia.

Koukash was linked with purchasing the Knights two years ago. The club is currently owned by the NRL after the disastrous tenure of previous owner Nathan Tinkler.

According to The Daily Telegraph today, Koukash is keen to own a piece of the club but only with the backing of the Newcastle public.

It is believed the Salford chairman does not want to run the club but partner with an Australian group.

The Knights have won back to back wooden spoons in 2015 and 2016.

The club was founded in 1988 and won grand finals in 1997 and 2001.
