Korkidas in Wildcats loan deal

Huddersfield Giants‘ prop forward Michael Korkidas has secured a season-long loan deal with Wakefield for 2010

Korkidas has been on loan at the Wildcats since halfway through the 2009, in a deal which saw Danny Sculthorpe move to the the Giants, also on loan.

The former Castleford, Salford and Sydney forward is in his second spell at the Wildcats after making 109 appearances for the club betwwen 2003 and 2006.

Wildcats head coach John Kear said: “We’re delighted to secure the services of Michael for a further 12 months. He has continued his great recent form and we look forward to him producing further outstanding performances”

“We look forward to him helping the club continue our improvement in 2010”

Korkidas admitted he was happy to stay with the Wildcats:

“John approached me and I got the go ahead from Huddersfield. I’m happy here, I’m playing good footy and the club’s heading in the right direction” said Korkidas.

“Next year we’ve got some really good signings coming in with the experience of Glenn Morrison and Terry Newton which will be good for the young blokes amd for me because you’re always learning as a player”

Korkidas added: “Shane Tronc‘s one of the leading props in the NRL so it will be great to play alongside him”
