Kopczak impressed by new half-backs

Bradford prop Craig Kopczak says he is impressed by the quality of the Bulls’ two new half-backs, Jarrod Sammut and Luke Gale.

Both are no strangers to Super League, having impressed for Crusaders and Harlequins respectively in recent years, and they will be looking to rejuvenate a Bradford side that has finished 10th in each of the past two seasons.

Kopczak, who featured for Wales in the Four Nations, also praised the other new faces that have arrived at Odsal during the close season.

Speaking on his blog on the official club website, he said: “We have brought in some real quality in the off season and the new boys are settling in well, apart from some of them moaning about the cold weather, but that’s a typical Aussie thing!

Jarrod Sammut and Luke Gale have been added at Half Back and have looked very impressive in training. We have some real quality in that area and I’m looking forward to getting out there and playing alongside them.”

Bradford get their campaign underway with a home match against Catalan on Sunday, looking to bounce back from a heavy defeat in their final pre-season friendly last weekend, going down 46-6 against Hull.

Hull host Warrington in their opening fixture, and Kopczak believes the Wolves are the team to beat this year.

He added: “With Super League back this Friday it is exciting times for Rugby League fans, especially with so many teams strengthening in the off season.

“I think Warrington Wolves could be the team to beat this season after their disappointing loss in the semi finals last year.”
