Knights bid for six in a row

York City Knights are aiming to extend their winning run to six games when they visit Hunslet on Sunday.

The Knights secured a 36-18 victory over London Skolars last weekend, but head coach James Ford admits it was a mixed performance.

“I don’t want to take anything away from London – they performed really well and they asked a lot of questions of us,” he said.

“We were miles off the standard that we set in the first half, but the boys showed some character and there was a good response in the second half.

“We can’t afford to start in that manner this week against Hunslet. It’ll be a tough game against them – they pushed Barrow and they’ve got a new coach, that generally gives players a bit of a lift.

“They’ll be really up for it – it’s an important game for them to win and try and turn their season around.

“We certainly won’t need any motivation for it – it’s a big game and we’re looking forward to it.”
