Kite in at Widnes

Widnes have received another boost ahead of Sunday’s trip to Hull KR with the arrival of new signing Sione Kite.

Kite, 24, signed a one-year deal with the Vikings in January but his arrival has been held up by red tape, ruling him out of the first four matches of the season.

The former Melbourne Storm and Canterbury Bulldogs prop said: “The Vikings have offered me a fantastic opportunity and it’s one I’m determined to make the most of. From stepping off the plane and walking in the front door of the club, I’ve been blown away with how professional the set-up is at Widnes and the facilities it has in place.

“It seems to have taken an absolute age to get here but now that I am, I’m keen to get out on the field and prove myself to the club and its supporters.”

Fellow new signing Cameron Phelps arrived at Widnes earlier this week, and is in contention for a place in the squad for Sunday’s round five game at Craven Park.
