Kirmond delighted with Wakefield’s character

Wakefield skipper Danny Kirmond was delighted with the way his team turned round a 16-6 half-time deficit to win at Castleford on Sunday.

The Wildcats won 24-22 in a thrilling contest, and Kirmond was particularly pleased by the second-half performance.

“We had some real tough times in that game. Castleford turned the ball over well in our 20 for a lot of the game, and it was tough coming out of there,” he said.

“Obviously we had to stick at it, and get it right at the end there.

“But great character was shown by the boys to come out with a win in the end.

“All we talked about at half-time was how we had to take our chances.

“We had a few chances in the first half where we put the ball down in really key positions, and didn’t really do ourselves any justice.

“But in the second half we stuck to the game plan, and it’s come good in the end.”
