Kingstone Press Championship preview: Dewsbury Rams v Workington Town

Dewsbury Rams had to battle hard to beat bottom of the table Doncaster last week.

Coach Glenn Morrison said: “They came ready to play. They ran hard and tackled hard but we just didn’t turn up. We were real poor and lucky to get the win but it’s two points so we’ll take it.

“I think it’s going to be similar against Workington, they’ll have nothing to lose and be wanting to get the two points.

“We’re going to have to be better prepared mentally for a game like this than we were. We’ve spoken about it, we’re working hard at training and need to get back on track.”

Hooker/half-back Matty Wildie suffered a knock to the head against Doncaster and will be assessed this week.

Phil Veivers, the Workington Town coach said: “We were poor last week. I was quoted as saying, ‘if we’d have played for three games we wouldn’t have scored’.

“It’s always tough going to Dewsbury, they’re a physical outfit with a big set of forwards.”

Second row Kurt Horton picked up a knee injury as did prop Kris Coward and there is still a doubt over hooker Graeme Mattinson.
