Doncaster are still without a win but were competitive against Dewsbury according to chief executive Carl Hall.

“It was an unbelievable effort from the players against a team who are fourth in the league and well coached, I’m very, very proud of them,” he said. “They didn’t get what they deserved on the day.”

Following the appointment of new coach Gary Thornton he said “It’s Week One for the players. They need to impress the coach.

“Nobody’s given us a chance at Bradford. Robbie (Hunter-Paul) and Lowesy know that any team I’m associated with will come and have a go at them.

“It’s going to be tough but Gary’s come in and told the boys, ‘what better way to start?’  They can go there and play with a smile on their faces.”

Doncaster have lost second row Mike Kelly with a knee injury but scrum-half Richard Wilkinson second row Steve Snitch could return.
