King signs for Lakers

James King – the Irishman supposedly Castleford bound, has joined Doncaster Lakers instead.

The second rower – due to be training with the Tigers now , had suffered personal problems back in Australia, and was released from his contract until they were sorted.

However, in an unexpected and unusual u-turn, that the Tigers will no doubt wish to clear-up, the Australian second rower has joined the team at the new Lakeside complex.

King said: ""I think the smaller community of the English game means there is more unity in the teams and everyone seems to know one another unlike back in Australia where teams are miles apart."

He continued: "Doncaster are obviously a club going forward with the new stadium and the coaching staff they now have in place. The stadium was a big factor in my decision to join and hopefully we can get the club in the top four and see from there what happens in the play-offs."

This however, may be a case of releasing one second rower for another, with coach Terry Matterson reiterating his desire to bring another Hull player – Chris Chester – to the Jungle earlier in the week. See Chris Chester article for further information.
