South Sydney centre Matt King has been ruled out for up to four months with a broken arm.

King was making his comeback for the Rabbitohs’ feeder team North Sydney Bears on Saturday after suffering a similar injury in last year’s qualifying finals defeat to Melbourne.

“It’s a tough situation for Kingy as he has worked extremely hard to put himself into a position to make his return last weekend,” Rabbitohs head coach Michael Maguire said.

“Kingy is the ultimate professional and we know that he will do everything he can, in conjunction our medical team, to return from this injury before the end of the season.

“He is still a massive part of what we’re doing here, he’s a leader in the development of the group, and the players have a huge amount of respect for what he does for this team.”

King hopes to return before the end of the season.
