Manly co-captain Jason King faces up to four months on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on a shoulder injury.

Prop King suffered the injury during the Sea Eagles’ home defeat to South Sydney and is due to have an operation this week.

“Kingy is going to have major shoulder surgery on Thursday and we’re hoping to have him back towards the end of the season,” coach Geoff Toovey told Manly’s official website..

“You’ve got to wait for those things to settle down a little bit before you make the decision on surgery. We decided a few days ago.”

It is not know if 32-year-old King will return in time for the culmination of the NRL season with Toovey adding:

“We don’t know.

“We’ll wait until Friday to determine the extent of the damage.”

King has been blighted by injury in recent seasons and only made his return to playing action in round 4 after a long recovery from pre-season shoulder surgery.
