Kevin Brown out for the season

Warrington have been dealt a blow on the eve of the season with the news Kevin Brown will miss the whole campaign through injury.

Brown, 34, suffered a ruptured Achilles in training at the weekend, which the club says has a recovery time of nine months.

The Wolves may now ask for the same salary cap dispensation that Castleford have recently been awarded following the long-term injury to Luke Gale.

The ruling has been in place in Super League for several years.

Brown and Gale played together at half-back for England in the 2017 World Cup final against Australia.

Warrington open the season up against Leeds on Saturday.
