Kieron Purtill has signed a contract extension at the Huddersfield Giants to remain at the club until the end of the 2016 season.

Huddersfield Giants have confirmed that assistant coach Kieron Purtill has signed a new contract at the club.

The current England Knights head coach is now set to remain in place until the end of the 2016 season.

“We have made some great strides as a club and I was proud to be part of the group that lifted the League Leaders Shield for the first time in 81 years,” said Purtill.

“Our challenge is to keep moving forward and improving and I am happy that the club wanted me to be part of that process.

“Whilst the strength of the squad is clear for all to see I am also very encouraged by the talent now pushing forward from the junior ranks.

“All consistently successful clubs need highly talented and motivated players and I think that the plans we have in place here can ensure that the future is very bright indeed.”

“Kieron is a highly respected rugby league coach throughout the sport and is probably the most experienced assistant in the game,” added Huddersfield managing director Richard Thewliss.

“I believe he will become a top flight head coach in the fullness of time and his partnership with Paul Anderson works wonderfully well for us.

“He is one of the relatively few level four coaches in the game and has been operating in Super League for over ten years now which in itself gives him a raft of contacts and relationships all of which benefit us and him.

“I was delighted when Paul Anderson recommended his retention and with Kieron also wanting to stay it was an easy deal to put together.”
