Keighley loose forward Carl Hughes has signed a new one-year deal with the Championship One Grand Final winning club.

Signed at the end of the 2008 season from Featherstone Rovers, the speedy loose forward was an integral part of the Cougars team that won promotion by beating Oldham in the Grand Final at Warrington.

Barry Eaton, the Cougars Head Coach, said: “I’m delighted that Carl has opted to stay at Cougar Park.

“I’m aware that he has had interest from other Championship clubs but I believe that he can see that this Keighley team has great promise. At the same time he wants to be part of our Championship adventure”.

The 26-year-old forward’s agent had extensive discussions with Eaton before the deal was clinched.
