Kearney sacked by Eels

Stephen Kearney has paid the price for Parramatta’s disastrous results after being sacked as coach.

The news, which was leaked to the media, is expected to be confirmed by Eels officials tomorrow.

Kearney took over at the club in 2010 and appears to have borne the blame for an abysmal season, which has seen the Eels pick up just three wins so far.

The departure has sparked a flurry of speculation surrounding Kearney’s successor.

So far New South Wales coach Ricky Stuart and former Newcastle man Rick Stone have been touted as likely candidates.
