London Broncos have confirmed that they have signed Welsh international winger Elliot Kear on a deal until the end of the 2016 season.

The 26-year-old had been playing rugby union for London Welsh, after moving there from Bradford Bulls. He has also played for Welsh outfits Crusaders and South Wales Scorpions.

“I’m really pleased to sign the contract and come back to rugby league,” he said.

“I’m just really excited to get back on the field.

“I’ve felt like I’ve fitted in really well, I know a few of the boys from playing against them over the years and everyone has been really welcoming.

“The team spirit is really good, with some good wins. You can see the confidence is there and everyone enjoys each other’s company which is a big thing too.

“First things first, I just want to get into the team and play the best I can for the club.”

Broncos coach Andrew Henderson is delighted to have added a player of such quality and experience to his squad.

“It’s a great signing for the club,” he said.

“I’m pleased we’ve managed to get Kear across the line. What he will bring is a vast amount of experience at Super League level and Championship level from when he was first starting out.

“He knows what this level of football is about as well. He’s a Welsh international too so he’s played at the highest level and some of the biggest stages in the world.

“The good thing about Kear is that he’s versatile so he can cover full-back, wing and can fill in at centre too, which is another reason I wanted to bring him in.

“It puts pressure on the guys already in the jersey and adds that much more competition for places.

“It’s another quality player that’s a good fit for us, he’s a good person and someone that wants to win, and he’s a competitor.

“He fits the bill for me and I’m excited to see what he’ll bring to the club, and with his experience how he’ll help some of the younger guys with their development too.

“Next stop for us is trying to bring in some more forwards.”
