Keal Carlile joins Halifax

Halifax have announced the signing of Keal Carlile for the 2020 Championship season.

Carlile, 29, joins from League 1 side Newcastle Thunder where he made 20 appearances and scored 10 tries in 2019.

The hooker could make his debut in the first home friendly against Super League outfit Hull FC at They Shay in January.

“I’m delighted to have signed for Fax,” he said.

“It’s all come about so quickly but as soon as I spoke to Simon, I believed in his plans and how the club is looking to moving forward. There seems to be a definite buzz around the place and I can’t wait to get started now and have a big 2020.”

On the signing, head coach Simon Grix added: “Keal is an experienced nine with the ability to bring players onto the ball and generate speed at the play the ball.

“He is obviously coming here primarily to compete for a spot in the team every week. Second to that and no less important, i have no doubt he can bring on the nouse of both Brandon (Moore) and Curt (Davies) as they continue to develop. Between them we hope to have healthy competition.”
