Kain injury blow for Hunslet

James Gordon

Hunslet have been dealt a blow on the eve of the new Championship season with the news that Stuart Kain is out with a fractured jaw.

Kain, 26, picked up the injury in last week’s 30-12 defeat against Leigh, and faces between six to 12 weeks on the sidelines.

The former Castleford and Gateshead full back scored six tries in 23 appearances for the Hawks last season.

The injury rules him out of the Hawks’ final Northern Rail Cup group game at home to Doncaster on Sunday.

There is a timely boost, however, for coach Barry Eaton, who welcomes back winger Dennis Tuffour after a hamstring strain.
