Justin Holbrook to be appointed Gold Coast Titans coach this week – reports

Justin Holbrook is “expected” to be announced as the new head coach of Gold Coast Titans as early as Tuesday, according to reports Down Under.

Gold Coast’s board met on Monday to discuss the position which has been vacant since Garth Brennan’s sacking earlier this month.

Holbrook and Queensland boss Kevin Walters are believed to have been the frontrunners for the job, but The Mole and Australian outlet Fox Sports report that Holbrook has won the race to his first NRL head coaching position.

The Titans are set to make an announcement on their head coaching role this week.

However, it is unclear whether Holbrook will leave his post as St Helens head coach immediately or finish the 2019 season in England before returning home to Australia.

Holbrook has enjoyed an impressive couple of years in Super League since arriving at Saints midway through 2017. They won the League Leaders’ Shield last year, while reaching the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup and Super League.

This year, St Helens currently sit top of Super League by 10 points and have reached the Challenge Cup final at Wembley so far. They are the bookmakers favourites to win all three trophies.
