Jukes opens up on Brierley saga

Leigh coach Neil Jukes has commenting on the transfer saga concerning Ryan Brierley, saying he only wants players at the Centurions who want to be at the club.

A tit for tat situation has developed between Leigh and their star halfback, who has handed in a transfer request to leave the club.

Jukes spoke to the media about the issue after Leigh’s eight-point win over Sheffield yesterday.

“We’ve got a good set of honest guys in that dressing room who deserve better,” he said.

“We want people here who want to be here. But some people want to turn it into a pantomime from the outside and it’s not helping.

“If people don’t want to be here that’s fine … I don’t care. If they want to move on they can manipulate moves. Jeremy Kyle has a lie detector, if I sat in a room with Ryan Brierley with that on you can put all your money on me.

“Some people like drama but I don’t. There have been no lies told by myself. I have dealt with things professionally.

“The week’s events have affected the players and that’s very disappointing as a coach.”
