Jowitt set to welcome back five key Rams

Dewsbury coach Warren Jowitt is expecting to welcome back several key players for his side’s game away to Featherstone.

Jowitt is expected to include Ed Barber, Scott Spavin, Billy Harris, John Davies and George Flanagan in his squad at the Big Fellas Stadium.

However despite losing to Halifax 36-6 last week, Jowitt is happy to take on the big sides first.

He said: “The pleasing thing about playing Halifax and Featherstone in our first two games is that they’ll test us and expose our weaknesses early in the season.

“Rather than playing lesser teams where those weaknesses might not be shown up, we find them out from the beginning of the season. That gives us plenty of time to work on them and put them right.

“Against Halifax we had seven try-scoring opportunities, but we took the wrong option. We created the chances, but we just didn’t finish them off. Hopefully we’ll create some chances against Featherstone, and finish them this time.

“Featherstone have got quality all over the park. It’s a massive test for us, but hopefully we’ll take something out of it.”
