Barrow coach Paul Crarey has confirmed the Raiders will be without their hooker Josh Wood for up to two months due to injury.

Wood left the field in the opening stages of last Sunday’s 36-16 defeat to Sheffield at Craven Park. The game also marked his 100th career appearance.

Further examination has determined that he will be out between four and eight weeks.

Meanwhile, prop Sam Brooks has worked his way back to full fitness. However, the Scotland international won’t make the trip to his former club Swinton this weekend.

Crarey said: “We’re eating into our squad early this year

“We were probably very lucky last year with our injuries, and this year at the start we’ve not been so lucky.

“Our medical team are doing really well with the players and are on the ball.

“Josh (Wood) is a tough kid, and hopefully it heals pretty well. With his attitude, it’ll hopefully only be a four-week injury rather than eight.”
