New Zealand international Jordan Kahu has been ruled out for six weeks after suffering a shoulder injury.

Kahu sustained the injury to his AC [acromioclavicular] joint of his left shoulder in North Queensland’s 6-4 win over Gold Coast on Sunday.

The 28-year-old has damaged the ligaments in his shoulder which will sideline him for six weeks but he will not require surgery.

Cowboys coach Paul Green told NRL.com: “He was outstanding. He could a couple of really, really big efforts.

“That tackle on [AJ] Brimson, that was a game-changer for us.

“He put his body on the line defensively, was great under the high ball, pushed up and got a short pass off Frank Molo and went through at a key period of the game.

“That was the best game Jordy has played for us so far this year but typified the effort for that game in particular.”
