Jordan Abdull (7) of Hull KR warms up.

Hull KR’s Jordan Abdull is the latest player to be accused of a so-called squirrel grip, after being placed on report in the 21-20 defeat to St Helens.

The incident occurred in the 68th minute of the game at the Totally Wicked Stadium, with allegations Abdull grabbed the testicles of St Helens back-rower James Bentley.

Bentley’s team-mate Tommy Makinson is currently serving a five-match ban for an incident in a game last month, while Warrington’s Tom Lineham was placed on report in their win over Castleford on Thursday night for the same offence.

In his post-match press conference, Hull KR coach Tony Smith said: “I think Jordan Abdull went for one of those tackles where his hand went between Bentley’s legs and then removed it very quickly.

“If I’m reading it right, I would hope nothing further comes of it because it was not intentional and there is no fairer player than Jordan.”

Abdull helped to orchestrate a late Hull KR comeback from 20-12 down to force golden point, only for them to be denied a second successive scalp in Super League by Theo Fages’ extra time drop goal.
