Hull KR have announced that they will be without talismanic half-back Jordan Abdull for up to six weeks with a quad injury.

The 27-year-old has enjoyed a fine start to the season, sitting just behind Warrington half-back George Williams in the Steve Prescott Man of Steel leaderboard.

Abdull has built up an impressive partnership with Mikey Lewis in the halves for Hull KR. The pair have been vital in helping Willie Peters’ side get up to third in the Super League table, having won seven from 10 games this season.

The club tweeted: “Earlier this week, Jordan Abdull sustained a quad injury which will see him ruled out for up to six weeks.

“You’ll be back stronger, Jordy.”

Jordan Abdull knocking on the England door

Abdull made his international debut for England in 2021 but hasn’t appeared since. He didn’t feature in England’s 64-0 win over France last weekend.

But his form this season has saw him backed to force his way back in to England contention.

Speaking after Abdull’s man of the match performance against Salford back in March, Peters told Sky Sports: “He has played there (for England) before and he wants to play there again, so I’ll always back my players and support them.

“Jordan’s played extremely well, he’s put his hand up and he’s leading the Man of Steel but he’ll say it himself that he needs to be consistent with his performances week in, week out.

“He’s had some issues with his body over the last year but he has got his head and body right and is playing great footy so I’m sure Shaun Wane’s taking that (into account).”

Next up for Hull KR is a home game against Huddersfield at Craven Park on Friday night, 8pm kick-off. The Robins are seeking their eighth win of the campaign.

Meanwhile, Peters’ side have drawn Championship side Batley in the Challenge Cup sixth round. The Robins will host the Bulldogs on Friday, May 19 (8pm). The game will not be televised.
