Castleford back-row forward Stuart Jones has penned a new one-year contract extension which will keep him with the Tigers until the end of the 2012 season.

The no-nonense forward, now 29, has previously had spells with St Helens, Wigan and Huddersfield, before signing for the Tigers in 2009.

Having made 79 appearances for the club over the past three seasons, Jones has become a fan favourite with the Castleford faithful.

Commenting on the new deal, Jones said “I’m absolutely delighted. The club has a good structure in place, it is really going in the right direction and it’s good to be a part of it.

“Things off the field are coming together nicely; and on the field we’ve been getting stronger with every year I’ve been here.

“I’ve had three good years here; I’ve really enjoyed my time and glad to be here for next season at least.”
