Jon Wilkin has praised his Toronto team-mate Sonny Bill Williams for being so humble and not having an ego.

Williams has joined the Wolfpack on a two-year deal which is believed to be worth £5.7million.

Wilkin and Williams recently attended the Super League season launch at Emerald Headingley, alongside Wolfpack director of rugby Brian Noble and coach Brian McDermott.

Wilkin said: “Sonny is a great guy.

“Like any top sportsman, if you play at the top level in sport and you do it to the level he has then you can’t have an ego.

“If you have an ego then you get found out. If you are not humble, you get found out.

“If you have any particular darks about your character then it gets found out. He has just proven time and time again that he is a man of great character.”
