Toulouse have appointed Johnathon Ford as their new captain in their quest to gain promotion to Super League.

The 31-year-old half-back will play his 10th season with Toulouse in 2021, scoring 49 tries in 175 appearances for the club so far. He was won seven caps for the Cook Islands.

Ford takes over the captaincy role from former Samoa international Constantine Mika, who has since joined French Elite One Championship side Villeneuve.

A Toulouse statement read: “Used to dictating the tempo of the team on the pitch, the Cook Islands native will therefore have another mission this season: to lead an entire club to their ultimate goal, the Super League.”
