John Bateman to miss first six weeks of NRL season

Canberra Raiders forward John Bateman is expected to miss at least the first six weeks of the NRL season through injury.

The Great Britain and England international has undergone shoulder surgery to repair an ongoing issue earlier this month.

Bateman will continue his rehabilitation post surgery and he will aim to be back for the Raiders in round seven or eight this term.

The 26-year-old made a huge impact in the NRL last season, making 22 appearances to help Canberra reach the Grand Final.
