Catalans have signed back-rower Joel Tomkins from Hull KR on a two-year deal.

The 32-year-old – who was Hull KR’s captain last season – made 35 appearances for the Robins since arriving from Wigan midway through 2018.

Tomkins will join his brother Sam at the Dragons from next year onwards.

Catalans coach Steve McNamara said: “Joel is an experienced, hardened competitor who plays and trains to win.

“He will add great value to all within our organisation and I personally look forward to working with him again after previously coaching him for England.”

Tomkins added: “Since playing against the Dragons in their first ever Super League game in 2006, I have always admired the club’s ambition to grow and achieve success.

“Being given the opportunity to be a part of the Catalans Dragons is a great honour for me and I am determined to do what I can to help the club to achieve success in the coming years.”
