Joe Westerman on the move after Toronto agree release

Toronto have agreed to the release of Joe Westerman, just months after buying him from Warrington for £130,000 on a three-year deal.

Westerman, 28, becomes the third player to leave the Wolfpack this week following the departures of Jake Butler-Fleming and Quentin Laulu-Togagae who joined York and Halifax respectively.

He made just six appearances for Toronto and has been linked with a move to Wakefield.

In a tweet, the club said: “The Wolfpack can confirm that Joe Westerman has left the club.

“The former England international signed in the off season but will cut short his stay with the club to explore other opportunities.

“We would like to thank Joe for his contribution and wish him well for the future.”

Westerman has made more than 250 Super League appearances for Castleford, Hull and Warrington.

He earned a solitary England cap back in 2014.
