Canterbury have handed rising star Jayden Okunbor a new two-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until the end of 2021.

The 22-year-old Australian made his NRL debut this season against Wests Tigers and has scored two tries in five appearances.

Okunbor, who is of Nigerian descent, has impressed at the Bulldogs in 2019 and will remain in the NRL for at least another two years.

On his new deal, he said: “There was a stage were I didn’t know what my future hold but it was awesome to put pen to paper and get it all sorted.

“I grew up around here and it is pretty awesome to be able to call this place home for the next two years.

“Everything is sorted now and I can focus on my footy a lot more, so it’s a good feeling.

“We’ve got such great potential and if we play the way we can then I think we can surprise a lot of teams this year.”
