Wigan half-back Jarrod Sammut is set to represent Malta on the international stage next month.

The Malta Knights take on Italy on October 12 in Sydney, while they will face a Turkey squad on October 26, which includes Canberra Raiders duo Aiden Sezer and Emre Guler.

Sammut has earned seven caps for Malta, scoring 10 tries and kicking 23 goals. He has also played for Malta in rugby union.

Malta coach Aaron McDonald said: “The train-on squad has the right combination of youth and experience, as well as an overall balance across the positions for a Test Match campaign.

“We’ve got a great array of eligible halves playing in the Illawarra and Sydney finals series at the moment, all who can slot in anywhere in the backline.”
