The mother of Jansin Turgut has given an update on his condition after he was flown back to the UK to continue his recovery from life-threatening injuries.

The former Salford and Hull FC forward was accompanied home by friends and family after spending almost a month in Spanish hospitals following his fall from a third story car park in Ibiza.

The 23-year-old was initially put back on a ventilator following his return to the county but is now in a more stable condition as he begins his rehabilitation.

Carole Butler, who has been keeping fans updated on his recovery throughout the ordeal, says she is looking forward to his tracheotomy being removed as it will allow him to speak to his loved ones.

In a statement released on social media, she said: “I talked to him [Jansin] about his operations and he fully understood, and seemed more accepting of his surroundings and situation.

“He seems to be more settled and had some sleep as he hadn’t slept for three days. I feel like we are back on track. Now the hard work begins and we can get on with his rehab.

“We cannot thank you all enough for the love and support. We have been telling him bit-by-bit and will continue to do so.

“In the future, he will be able to read it all for himself and I’m sure he will thank you all too.”
