Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire says new recruit James Tamou will bring a wealth of experience to his side.

The Penrith Panthers prop will join the Tigers on a two-year deal from the 2021 season.

Tamou has made 263 first-grade appearances for North Queensland Cowboys and the Panthers, while earning 12 caps for Australia and playing 14 times for New South Wales. He has also represented the New Zealand Maori All Stars three times.

Maguire said: “James brings a wealth of experience to our forward pack and is a player who has experienced success at every level of the game.

“He has shown throughout his career to be a player who constantly improves not only himself but those around him, and I have no doubt he will play a key role in the development of our forward pack moving forward.”
