James Roby dominating Man of Steel votes after round two

Drew Darbyshire

St Helens captain James Roby became the first person to gain three points from the first two rounds of the new Steve Prescott Man of Steel voting system.

The awards are being chosen by a panel of 21 former players and coaches.

A member of the panel will watch each Super League game in 2019 and award points to three outstanding players: three points for their chosen standout performer, two for the runner-up, and one-point for their third ranked players.

The scores will be made public every week, until round 22 in mid-July. After that, the votes will be hidden until the awards ceremony at the end of the season.
