James leaves Quins

Prop Matt James has left Harlequins after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent.

James, 22, moved south in the close season after starting his career with Bradford, making 27 appearances for the Bulls, but played just three times for Quins.

A club statement read: “The 22-year-old wishes to return home to play in the north of England.”

James, who was contracted at Twickenham Stoop until the end of next season, spent time on loan at Championship side Halifax in 2009
