Dewsbury have signed Jamaica international Ross Peltier from League 1 side Doncaster for the 2022 Championship season.

The 30-year-old prop arrives at the Rams after an impressive season with Doncaster, who reached the League 1 play-offs earlier this month.

Peltier has made more than 100 career appearances for Keighley, Bradford and Doncaster. He has won nine caps for Jamaica.

On joining Dewsbury, Peltier said: “I am really excited to be joining the Rams for next season. I can’t wait to get stuck in.

“When I spoke to Lee Greenwood he told me what he wanted to do to build the club for next year and it was a pretty easy decision once I spoke to him.

“We had a good run at Doncaster and put some good performances together. I am excited to bring that experience to get Dewsbury into the play-offs because it seems really achievable with the squad we are building.

“A lot of people questioned my desire when I went to League One. But I think it has shown that I went to a project where we tried to gain promotion but now I want to be able to answer the critics and show that I am a decent level Championship forward that leads from the front.”

Dewsbury coach delighted to secure Ross Peltier

Dewsbury coach Lee Greenwood added: “Ross adds a lot of size and power to the squad. In any game I have seen him play in, he has always been difficult for defenders to handle.

“He knows what he needs to do in pre-season in order for him to have a great year in 2022.

“He wants to prove that he can still play at Championship level and make an impact at the Rugby League World Cup with Jamaica.

“He’s a good character to have around the place. I am sure he will be popular with his team-mates and supporters alike.”
