It’s been an up and down season, admits Adrian Lam

Wigan coach Adrian Lam has admitted that 2019 has been a rollercoaster for himself.

The Warriors lost to Salford 28-4 in the Super League semi-final at the DW Stadium on Friday night.

The Red Devils will face St Helens in the Grand Final at Old Trafford next Saturday.

Reflecting on 2019, Lam said: “It has been an up and down season. To be in this position from where we was at one stage is quite incredible really when you consider the injuries we’ve had.

“I think we even had nine players out of the squad we couldn’t choose but it was one of our strongest teams we have had in the last 12 weeks against Salford.

“We have unearthed some good young kids this season and we will learn a lot from tonight. There will be a reshuffling in the squad with a lot of players so I think moving forward, we will get steel from this experience.

“I’ve enjoyed this year. It’s been an emotional rollercoaster – to go 13 or 14 weeks on a winning run was good and that made tonight’s defeat even harder.”
