Castleford half-back Jamie Ellis could miss the start of the season after tearing a pectoral muscle in training.

Ellis, 23, confirmed the injury on his Twitter account, and will undergo surgery on Saturday.

He tweeted: “Just so people know, torn my peck in training, going in for operation on sat, should be back fully fit in 3 months.”

The former Leigh and St Helens man scored 147 points in 24 appearances for the Tigers in 2013.
