Injury boost for Leeds

Leeds have been boosted by the news that back-rower Greg Eastwood is nearing a return to action.

The Rhinos were beaten 41-20 by St Helens last weekend with Eastwood, as well as Ali Lauitiiti, Carl Ablett, Scott Donald, Brent Webb and Kallum Watkins all missing.

But head of physiotherapy services at Leeds Rugby, Meirion Jones, says they are all making good progress.

He commented: “Ali is continuing his rehabilitation after tearing his calf in training. Greg Eastwood is out of plaster and will be reviewed over the next 3-4 weeks with regard to being available after his wrist fracture.

Carl Ablett is having a cartilage tear in his knee removed after tearing the day before St Helens. Ryan Bailey suffered with back spasms during the game against St Helens. He is expected to be available this week.

Brent Webb suffered a neck spasm in training prior to the St Helens game which is settling and we are monitoring his fitness prior to the Wakefield game.

Scott Donald is progressing well after his shoulder reconstruction but is not expected to be available for at least 4 weeks. Kallum Watkins has had his Anterior Cruciate Ligament reconstruction and is progressing well with his rehab but is unlikely to be available this season.”
