Castleford boss Daryl Powell says Greg Minikin’s shoulder injury is not as serious as first feared and he may return against Huddersfield on 31st March.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed a superb start to the new Betfred Super League season, but damaged his shoulder scoring his ninth try of the campaign in the 13-12 defeat at Salford.

“We don’t think it’s too bad – he looked like he’d dislocated his shoulder but he’s had a scan and seen a specialist and things aren’t too bad,” Powell told the Yorkshire Post.

“He’s got a bit of a problem with his ligament but shouldn’t be too long.

We’re really pleased it’s not too serious. He’s a high quality player who is going to be an outstanding player of the future.”

Powell also confirmed that Oli Holmes is back in training after recovering from a knee injury he picked up in pre-season.
