Inglis eager to be back at the top

Greg Inglis says most of the Kangaroos squad are “burning” to reclaim the number one world ranking.

Australia has been usurped from the top by New Zealand. The 2013 World Cup winners take on the 2014 Four Nations winners this Saturday.

Inglis said his side are gunning for the Kiwis.

“It’s something that burns the majority of the players,” he told The Sydney Morning Herald.

“It’s something we need to work towards. To get that, we need to play well each and every game. The whole scenario is doing it every game.

Inglis has praised the impact of new coach, and Kangaroos legend, Mal Meninga.

“Another big thing Mal has talked about is keeping out of trouble,” he said.

“Not too many blokes pulled out and needed to get season-ending surgeries.

“To come here with an almost full-strength side just shows what Mal’s been doing behind the scenes.”
