In numbers: Super League round five attendances

Super League round five saw an average crowd of 8,194 across the six fixtures.

That’s a 1,056 increase on the previous round.

A total of 49,169 spectators attended a game of Super League during the fifth round of the competition.

254,633 fans have attended a top flight rugby league game so far this season.

More than 16,000 at St Helens

St Helens recorded a crowd of 16,118 inside the Totally Wicked Stadium for their clash with Warrington on Friday night.

Tommy Makinson scored two tries as champions St Helens maintained their 100% start to the Super League season with a 28-2 derby win over their local neighbours.

St Helens have seen a total of 39,587 spectators attend their opening three home fixtures of 2022.

Thursday night crowd

Headingley Stadium saw a crowd of 11,552 for Leeds’ home clash with Hull on Thursday evening.

The Rhinos fell to their fourth defeat of the season at home to Hull, losing 31-8 at Headingley Stadium.

36,342 fans have attended the three home games for Leeds so far in 2022.

Elsewhere

Huddersfield’s home clash with Castleford saw a crowd of 5,717 at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Giants survived a second half fight-back from the Tigers to claim their fourth win of the season at the John Smith’s Stadium.

7,481 saw Catalans defeat Wigan in Perpignan. Dragons moved up to third in the Super League table after nilling Wigan at the Stade Gilbert Brutus for the second straight year. It was Wigan’s first defeat of the season.

Wakefield recorded an attendance of 4,351 for their home victory over Toulouse. It was Willie Poching’s side first victory of the season, while Super League’s newcomers still search for their opening win.

The lowest crowd of the weekend came at the AJ Bell Stadium on Friday night. Salford fell short to Hull KR, with 3,950 in attendance.
